Amos Rex named top new European cultural destination

Amos Rex, an art museum located in the heart of Finland’s capital, Helsinki, has won the prestigious LCD (Leading Culture Destination) Award for New Cultural Destination of the Year – Europe. Amos Rex opened in August 2018 and immediately made a big impact on the cultural scene of Helsinki, attracting over half a million visitors in the first year. The museum spans the iconic Lasipalatsi (Glass Palace) building and a subterranean annex, offering 10 000 square metres of space for exhibitions and cultural experiences, also on the silver screen of Bio Rex. KONE wins lift order for US casino

Finnish company KONE will supply lifts to Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort in Cherokee, North Carolina, the US. The new 19-storey conference centre and resort from the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians will have more than 700 hotel rooms and 83 000 square feet of conference space. It will also have retail and dining facilities, a pool and fitness centre, and a 2 000-space parking garage. KONE plans to start deliveries in August. Image: Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort

Pikkuli wins the Bigger Picture in China

Finnish children’s brand Pikkuli has been awarded for its animated series and upcoming film by Bigger Picture, a Finnish TV and film export project to China launched by Creative Export Innovations and supported by the Finnish Government. The recipient of the 10 000-euro main prize was decided by Bigger Pictures’ main partners, Elisa NordicTV and Elisa Viihde, which stated that the Pikkuli brand has successfully taken the first steps in China and managed to attract local investments.
