Showcase Scotland taps Finland as partner
Scottish music industry event Showcase Scotland has chosen Finland as its partner nation for the upcoming festival in 2020.
The event will be organised at Glasgow’s annual folk, roots and world music festival Celtic Connections, which will gather over 2 000 musicians to the city for an extended, 18-day festival with over 300 concerts. The festival will mark Showcase Scotland’s 20th anniversary at Celtic Connections.
“The music of Finland will add vibrant threads to the weave of Celtic Connections 2020 and we look forward to exploring how our shared folk traditions and richly diverse communities can come together to create important new ties,” commentedDonald Shaw, creative producer for Celtic Connections.
Showcase Scotland will offer Finnish music talent numerous possibilities to meet industry people, perform at the enormous festival and gain visibility. The Finnish artists will be presented in association with Music Finland.
“The atmosphere at Celtic Connections is quite unique: the concert selection is huge and the halls are always full. Showcase Scotland attracts booking agents from British world music festivals, concert halls and professional events, as well as media people,” said Henna Salo, Music Finland‘s export manager.
