Planmeca and NST begin co-operation

Planmeca was established in 1971 by Heikki Kyöstilä, who is still the president and owner.Planmeca

Finnish health technology company Planmeca has signed a co-operation agreement with Navigate Surgical Technologies (NST) to explore ways to enhance precision in surgery and streamline digital workflows.

The co-operation will see NST’s dynamic surgical navigation solution integrated into Planmeca’s dental care units, allowing clinicians to follow the position of the drill in relation to the patient’s anatomy in real time with the help of 4K cameras.

“We’re very excited about the possibility to complement and support Planmeca’s commitment to progressive dental care unit manufacturing with our optical monitoring technology,” commented Marty Dymek, CEO of Navigate Surgical Technologies, in a press release.

This allows for a more precise placement of implants and a better picture of the patient’s anatomical structure, leading to less invasive procedures and better treatment outcomes.

“NST’s innovative and real-time navigation solutions and our high technology dental care units will bring new aspects to dental implant procedures,” said Jukka Kanerva, VP of dental care units and CAD/CAM solutions at Planmeca.

Planmeca is headquartered in Helsinki and exports its products to over 120 countries. It is the largest privately held dental equipment company in Finland, with a turnover of 703 million euros in 2017 and almost 2 800 personnel stationed worldwide.
