Finns land substantial orders in Europe

Valmet agrees to supply world’s largest containerboard making line to Papierfabrik Palm’s paper mill in Germany.Valmet

Valmet has secured significant new technology orders and YIT several traffic infrastructure contracts.

Valmet will supply Papierfabirk Palm’s Aalen-Neukochen mill in Germany with a new containerboard making line (PM 5), along with mill-wide automation and services.

The massive, new board machine will produce lightweight and high-quality recycled fluting and testliner grades, and is set to replace three smaller machines upon its scheduled startup in 2021. An order of this type is usually worth around 150–200 million euros.

Valmet has also won an order from Biomasse Energie d’Alizay to convert a recovery boiler into a biomass boiler at the DA Alizay mill in France.

The converted power plant will utilise bubbling fluidised bed combustion (BFB) technology to produce electricity and steam from biomass as of 2020. The value of an order of this type is usually around 20 million euros.

Meanwhile, YIT has announced it has started the year by winning seven large traffic infrastructure contracts in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The total value of these contracts is approximately 53 million euros.
