Finnish firms put hard hats on worldwide

First to KONE, which will equip Google’s new UK headquarters in London with 38 lifts and two escalators. Called KGX1 and situated at the heart of a new campus for 7 000 Google employees, the ‘landscraper’ will be 11 storeys tall and 312 metres long and run parallel with King’s Cross railway station in the English capital.

KONE will also supply a total of 218 lifts and 183 escalators for pedestrian overhead bridges and stages four and five of the upcoming Thomson-East Coast Line on Singapore’s MRT.

Then on to Caverion, which will deliver a total technical solution, including all building systems, for a new building of the Technopolis campus in Vilnius, Lithuania. Signed with construction company Veikmės Statyba, the agreement is worth approximately 10 million euros.

Fortum, in turn, has won the right to build a 250MW solar power plant in Rajasthan, India. The permission was granted by Solar Energy Corporation of India, with the commissioning of the plant expected in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Finally to Metso, which has completed an expansion at the Metso Park production facility in Alwar, India. The expansion responds to growing demand for crushing and screening solutions in the Indian market, as well as improves product availability for exports to Asia. Metso Park is one of the Finnish company’s key global sites, delivering a wide range of equipment and service products for the aggregates, mining and process industries.
