Finnish firms collect orders worldwide

First up is Wärtsilä, which will deliver a 90MW combined heat and power (CHP) plant to Dresden, Germany. The Dresden-Reick power plant was ordered by Dresden’s local utility company DREWAG and will supply electricity and district heating to the German city. Wärtsilä will deliver the plant on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis and also maintain it for 10 years, with a five-year extension option. The plant is scheduled to become operational in 2021.

Then on to Kalmar, part of Cargotec, which will supply four rubber-tyred gantry cranes (RTGs) with hybrid drivelines to Exolgan’s container terminal in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Exolgan handles a third of Argentina’s total foreign trade container volume, and the sustainable Kalmar Hybrid RTGs will complement Exolgan’s machinery fleet that already includes Kalmar RTGs, empty container handlers, forklift trucks and reach stackers.

Next in line is Kemira, which will establish a joint venture in South Korea with local, privately-owned chemicals company Yongsan Chemicals. Kemira will have a 35 per cent stake in the so-called Kemira Yongsan Chemicals company located in Ulsan, South Korea, which will expand the Finnish company’s presence in the Asia-Pacific and drive profitable growth there.

Onwards to Valmet, which will deliver two waste-to-energy boilers to Urumchi Jinghuan Environmental & Energy for a new waste-to-energy power plant in Urumchi, China. The plant will become operational by the end of 2019, support the circular economy and supply electricity to the local power grid.

Finally to Nokia, whose Nuage Networks SD-WAN 2.0 has been selected to provide seamless connectivity to SciSports’ cloud-based data analytics service for football (soccer) organisations, media and fans worldwide. SciSports’ real-time sports data intelligence engine, BallJames, uses AI and machine learning to gather, analyse and present on-the-pitch data with the help of high-definition video streams, supported by Nokia’s Nuage Networks SD-WAN 2.0 solution. The contract was awarded to Nokia by SciSports’ network provider SDNbucks.
