Qt to power Parrot’s upcoming digital cockpit

Digital cockpits offer highly immersive driving experiences through digital instrument clusters, heads-up displays, in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems and rear-seat entertainment systems.Qt

Finnish software company Qt has been selected by Parrot Faurecia Automotive to power its digital cockpit under development for connected and autonomous vehicles.

Parrot’s Advanced Cockpit Server will run on one of the latest versions of Android and include a complete feature set, including analogue and digital radio, navigation, hands-free telephone, voice recognition, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, connected services, multimedia content and a wide variety of apps.

In order to ensure a cohesive user experience and help to meet functional safety standards, Parrot has selected Qt’s cross-platform software development framework for the digital cockpit.

“The Qt framework enables us to achieve an important milestone in the development of our in-vehicle infotainment platform,” said Frédéric Biéri, sales and marketing director of Parrot Faurecia Automotive. “We are glad to report that our first Advanced Cockpit Server will start production in the second half of 2019 for a premium European carmaker.”

Qt announced another digital cockpit co-operation with Peugeot in October, after the French automotive manufacturer unveiled its new e-Legend concept at the Paris Motor Show.
