Finnair carries more than 10 million passengers annually, to 19 cities in Asia, eight in North America and over 100 destinations in Europe.Finnair

Finnair has announced double-digit increases in capacity on several routes to Japan and Greater China, to meet the rise in demand and to support the company’s strong growth in the markets.

The Finnish airline will hike its summer-season frequency for next year by 15 per cent, adding three weekly flights on the Osaka route and continuing to offer twice-daily flights to Tokyo. A third daily flight to Tokyo will also be added for the duration of the Japanese Golden Week holiday next spring.

In addition, the Nagoya route will see added capacity in 2019. In total, Finnair will offer 41 weekly flights to Japan during the 2019 summer season.

“We continue to execute on our growth strategy, and the new additions further strengthen our offering in key Asian markets,” states Juha Järvinen, chief commercial officer at Finnair. “Travel between Asia and Europe has been steadily growing in recent years and we expect that trend to continue in the future.”

In the Greater China region, Finnair will increase its frequencies by a total of 12 per cent. The Hong Kong route will see twice-daily flights in the 2019 summer season, operated with the new Airbus A350 aircraft. Frequencies on the Guangzhou route will be ramped up to four weekly flights.

The announcement comes on the heels of Finnair’s launch of a new route to Los Angeles, set to commence operating in 2019.
