International growth entrepreneurs are now eligible to build a startup company in Finland, with the launch of the Finnish Startup Permit.

Designed for startup founders coming from countries outside the European Union, the permit seeks to make it easier for entrepreneurs and experts to move to Finland and thereby promote economic growth and employment.

Before making an application with the Finnish Immigration Service, the applicant must first obtain a business assessment from Business Finland, which will ascertain whether the company’s business model shows potential for rapid international growth.

Once approval has been given, it will take no longer than a few weeks to issue the Finnish Startup Permit.

The permit is valid for a maximum of two years, after which it can be renewed.
