Finnish brand licensing startup Flowhaven has raised 16 million US dollars (approx. 13.2 million euros) in a series-A round led by Sapphire Sports, part of Sapphire Ventures, with participation from existing investors Global Founders Capital and Icebreaker.vc. Flowhaven aims to modernise the media licensing business and replace manual methods with its licensing management platform, which automates workflow process including planning and strategy, account and agreement management, content distribution, design approvals, and royalty reporting. Aalto University professor Peter Lund has been given the Jiangsu International Science and Technology Cooperation Award for his research into renewable energy and for developing co-operation between the EU and China. The co-operation with China and Jiangsu Province has brought considerable results in the development of solar energy, fuel cells, energy storage and energy systems. Known for its research on clean energy and artificial intelligence, Jiangsu Province is expected to have a central role in China’s energy transformation. Finnish self-driving software company Sensible 4 has started preparations for its second autonomous driving pilot in Norway. Conducted in snow-covered Gjesdal, the pilot enables the testing of the company’s all-weather autonomous driving software in harsh Norwegian winter conditions, steep hills, open roads and narrow suburban streets. Part of the field testing phase of the EU-funded FABULOS project, the pilot is a direct continuation of a pilot carried out in Helsinki, Finland, in 2020. Sensible 4 is also involved in another ongoing self-driving pilot near the Norwegian capital of Oslo, in collaboration with public transport operator Ruter, Toyota Motor Europe and Holo. WSP Finland’s unit in Vietnam has won a bridge design competition in the city of Hue. The head designer and team manager was Saigon-based Antti Karjalainen, but WSP Finland’s experts from Oulu and Helsinki also contributed to the winning design. Crossing the Perfume River, the 360-metre-long bridge is part of a ring road that is being built for the Vietnamese city. The total cost of the project will be around 60 million euros.
