Medtech startup Disior raises EUR 1.7 million
Finnish medical technology startup Disior has raised 1.7 million euros in funding from Maki.vc and Tesi, and earned its second CE marking for the Bonelogic Ortho Foot and Ankle product. Disior develops 3D analytics software that are used by doctors to improve patient care and outcomes from CT and MRI images. The cloud-based software automatically analyse, quantify and parameterise medical images. The startup has a rapidly growing global customer base, and it is currently collaborating with over 20 clinics worldwide.
Finnish chemicals company Kemira has signed a multi-year extension to its polymer supply agreement with Ithaca Energy. Kemira originally signed the agreement in 2018 to supply polymers in order to enhance oil extraction performance on one of Ithaca’s operated assets in the UK North Sea. The year before, Kemira had expanded the polymer manufacturing capacity for chemical enhanced oil recovery (CEOR) at its site in Botlek, the Netherlands.
Loudspring portfolio company Sofi Filtration has signed off on a three million-euro investment round to help to accelerate its growth. The Finnish company provides efficient water filtration technology, and its innovative self-cleaning filter, Sofi Filter, enables the cost-efficient micro filtration of large quantities of water. Currently focusing on the marine, oil and gas, mining, and power generation industries, Sofi Filtration has conducted successful pilots in industries such as plastics, which is considered to have high potential due to growing awareness of microplastics contamination.
Finland Promotion Board’s Hän campaign has won the Grand Prix Award for the greatest marketing achievement in 2019, as well as a Gold Award in Grafia’s annual creative design competition, Vuoden Huiput. The word ‘hän’ is the Finnish gender-neutral third-person singular pronoun, and the namesake campaign aims to tell the story of Finnish equality and highlight the importance of non-discrimination as a power to transform society. The campaign was launched by the department for communications of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in collaboration with consultancy agency Miltton in 2019.
