Finnish biotechnology company Biohit’s GastroPanel biomarker test has proven its usefulness in the diagnosis of atrophic gastritis (AG) in a multi-centre study carried out in France. The innovation is designed for the first-line diagnosis of patients with upper abdominal symptoms (dyspepsia) and reflux complaints. It is the first non-invasive diagnostic test on the market that accurately confirms or excludes the presence of a Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection and AG. AG and Hp are the two most important risk conditions for gastric cancer, making GastroPanel particularly suitable for screening asymptomatic individuals for the risk of this type of cancer. The recently published multi-centre study was conducted by researchers at the University Hospital of Nantes, as well as other centres in France.
Finnish family company Berner has acquired the fertiliser business of Nutriforte, which has brought Haifa Chemical’s fertilisers to Finland. The fertilisers will be sold by Farmer’s Avena Berner, strengthening the business unit’s product offering for the professional gardening segment in Finland. Nutriforte’s sales manager, Ilkka Väre, is moving to Berner in the acquisition to serve as product manager for fertilisers.
Paulig is opening a new Café&Store in the heart of Moscow at the beginning of August while relaunching its renewed Paulig Kulma coffee house in Helsinki. The Finnish coffee brand is the second most popular in the roasted coffee segment in Russia. It wants to use the new flagship shop to strengthen its position in the country and tap into the growing trend of coffee consumption outside the home. Newly merged Finnish company Metso Outotec has also announced a 23 million-euro order in Russia, where it will supply two primary crushing stations for a mine located in the Russian Far East.
Representatives of local startup networks have been chosen to operate Tampere’s Platform6 startup house, which is set to open this autumn. Read more on the subject by clicking the headline.
