Certain disciplines stood out from the pack. Aalto University’s business administration ranked 25th worldwide, the University of Turku’s nursing studies 35th and the University of Oulu’s telecommunication engineering studies 46th.

Also known as the Shanghai Ranking, ARWU assessed more than 2 000 universities worldwide and published the top 1 000. Four main criteria are used to rank the universities: quality of education, quality of faculty, research output and per-capita performance.
