WordDive closes EUR 1.27 million crowdfunding round
Finnish language learning mobile and online application WordDive has secured 1.27 million euros via the Invesdor crowdfunding platform.
The funding boost will be used to develop its business in Germany, with the Chinese market also in the company’s sights.
Launched in 2010 WordDive activates several of the user’s senses simultaneously in order to maximise their potential and create an individualised learning experience.
“When one gains confidence with the basics, it’s possible to just focus on speaking the language,” CEO Timo-Pekka Leinonen told us in 2015. “That’s where our strength lies.”
WordDive has racked up numerous awards since it entered the market, including the best e-learning solution and also the best mobile service in Finland. It was also chosen by Red Herring as one of its Top 100 European startups in 2015.
As of December 2016, WordDive had over 250 000 users in 150 countries.
