The tool allows organisations to find out their AI maturity across six dimensions: strategy and management, competences and co-operation, products and services, technology, data, and processes.
The online tool is available free of charge to all organisations at https://ai.digimaturity.vtt.fi/.
“The results are shown in a graph that helps organisations identify their most important areas for improvement,” said Olli Kuusisto from VTT. “However, it is important to remember that the appropriate maturity level of an organisation always depends on the nature of its business and its status in the value network. The goal is therefore not necessarily to achieve the highest level of maturity in all the dimensions.”
VTT developed the tool on the basis of an AI index published in connection with the 2018 national Digibarometer survey by Finland’s Artificial Intelligence Accelerator. The survey found that the biggest hurdle for organisations wasn’t access to technology but rather their lack of understanding of the business potential of AI.
“The key question is how we can learn to use artificial intelligence in a way that adds value – in both private and public sector,” said Kuusisto.
VTT has previously developed a complementary digital maturity test https://digimaturity.vtt.fi/.
