TUI, one of the biggest travel and tourism companies in the world, is set to begin charter flights to Kuusamo for next year’s Christmas season.

The flights will bring travellers directly from London’s Gatwick Airport and Manchester Airport to Kuusamo. The routes will be operated from 2 to 26 December 2018 twice a week, meaning 16 flights in total.

Previously, TUI has offered Christmas flights to elsewhere in Lapland, but this is a first for Kuusamo.

“TUI UK’s sister companies Crystal Ski and TUI Netherlands have brought big numbers of travellers to Kuusamo and Ruka for several years already,” says CEO Mats Lindfors from The Ruka-Kuusamo Tourist Association. “The high levels of customer satisfaction and the strong service offering of our tourism companies convinced TUI UK to take up the opportunity presented by this new opening.”

According to Lindfors, Kuusamo’s wintery nature and Christmassy programme are what British families seek from the area.
