Tom of Finland Vodka adds flavour to the UK
Finnish Tom of Finland Vodka has been launched in the UK market, and it’ll soon be spreading to other European countries, too.
Tom of Finland Vodka was created as homage to the life and art of Tom of Finland, officially known as Touko Laaksonen. It is owned by Finnish company Spirit of Tom, which has a license agreement with Tom of Finland Foundation. The product itself is produced by fellow Finns at Lignell & Piispanen, using organic wheat and rye as well as pure Arctic water.
Spirit of Tom is run by the same team that owns One Eyed Spirits, which is known for its Ron de Jeremy rum.
In the UK, the launch strategy for Tom of Finland Vodka as well as all trade and consumer activities will be handled by brand communications agency LDR. The UK distributor is Spirit Cartel.
Spirit of Tom CEO Olli Hietalahti tells Good News from Finland that after the UK launch, the company will be approaching markets like Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands. The focus will be on areas where the gay scene is large and active, hence the spirit will first be available in cities like London and Manchester.
Hietalahti says the company is really proud to be involved in spreading Tom of Finland’s message about positive courage, equality and freedom.
“I’ve got a really good gut feeling about this, as the product has raised loads of interest,” Hietalahti notes. “It resonates on a lot of levels: firstly, it’s organic, which is important to a lot of consumers. Also, the product itself is excellent, soft in taste with a bit of rye bringing a toasty flavour. We also really like the design of the bottle.”
Tom of Finland Vodka isn’t the only type of merchandise available for Laaksonen’s fans. Read here our Five of Friday about Tom of Finland-themed products.
