Theatrical rights of The Grump sold to several countries

Solar Films has sold Mielensäpahoittaja’s theatrical rights to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Canada, Portugal, Estonia, Lithuania and Turkey.

The feature film also appeared in the Contemporary World Cinema programme at the Toronto International Film Festival under the English title The Grump.

The Grump was Finland’s most watched movie in 2014, and the second most popular movie in the country over the past 25 years. The movie tells the hilarious and touching story of the generation gap, love, loss and new discoveries. The story is based on Finnish author Tuomas Kyrö’s popular novels by the same name.

The screenplay is written by Tuomas Kyrö and Dome Karukoski, and the film was produced by Markus Selin and Jukka Helle
