Finland’s Nokia Networks has teamed up with leading Korean operator KT to establish Korea’s first Internet of Things (IoT) lab.

After the two companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding at MWC15, the lab is set to provide IoT-related technical expertise and knowledge to small and medium-sized Korean partner companies. Furthermore, the pioneering lab is to promote IoT, fostering knowledge to create a well-connected ecosystem.

“Together with Nokia Networks, we are leveraging upon the convergence of IT and Telecommunications to hasten our transformation into an ICT powerhouse,” says Yun Kyoung-Lim, head of KT’s future convergence business office. “Furthermore, this lab is a strong iteration of our vision to become the number one player in Korea’s IoT market.”

This development will also enable Korean companies to enter global markets using Nokia Networks’ global business channels.
