Helsinki’s Maria01 to become largest startup campus in Europe

The modular nature of the space should make it less likely that companies outgrow their premises at Maria01.

The Helsinki City Council has given a green light for the development plan of Maria01, the leading startup campus in the Nordics.

The campus will begin its long-discussed expansion to provide 50 000 square metres of additional space to companies of all sizes, from startups to major corporations, in the heart of the Finnish capital. The tenants will have access not only to premises designed for the needs of companies at various stages of growth, but also support from the ecosystem.

To be carried out by YIT, the expansion puts the campus on track to become the largest of its kind in Europe.

Ville Simola, the CEO of Maria01, said the decision is a reward for two-and-a-half years of hard work and enables the community to truly start attracting highly skilled talent to Helsinki – be it to work for or set up a growth company.

“I’m super happy to see that the decision-makers trusted in this ambitious project,” he revealed.
