Omnia Education Partnerships (OEP) and the Somali National University have signed an MoU on developing vocational education and training (VET) in Somalia.

The Memorandum of Understanding is about collaboration that aims to develop sustainable and high-quality VET programmes and build VET capacity, which leads to improving employment opportunities for youth in Somalia.

The program is based on Finnish VET expertise, and the purpose is to train qualified vocational teachers and design relevant curricula and study programs for vocational education. The trained teachers will then continue training vocational teachers in Somalia.

“Education – especially vocational education – plays a very important role in developing a nation,” says Sampo Suihko, chairman of the board, OEP. “We are very pleased to be able to contribute to this process.”

Previously, OPE has participated in the training of Saudi Arabian teachers.
