Finns part of Nordic initiative to teach millions worldwide
A conglomerate of Finnish companies is sharing its educational expertise with the world as part of the Nordic initiative, Teach Millions.
The initiative offers free technological tools to support educators worldwide in coping with the demands of the coronavirus pandemic.
“We are excited to be part of this wonderful initiative offering teachers […] around the world the opportunity to benefit from these technology innovations during this lockdown situation,” stated Mervi Pänkäläinen, CEO of Mighty United, which recently announced the inclusion of its safe school culture programme, Mightifier.
The inclusion, she said, is a continuation of the company’s involvement in Koulu.me, a platform bringing together educational tools used by hundreds of schools in Finland. The platform was launched earlier this year to ensure schools are able to support the learning of children also in these exceptional times.
Dig deeper into the platform through our breaking story, from March.
A learning boost
Both Koulu.me and Teach Millions have generated interest worldwide. Pänkäläinen said Mighty United has witnessed a nearly fivefold increase in enquiries after joining the initiatives, including from such unexpected countries as Azerbaijan, Mongolia and South Africa. Not a single enquiry has been left unanswered, she added.
“The need for support is real and acute, and we are proud to be able to help,” she said.
Teach Millions provides access to tools developed not only in Finland, but also Denmark, Estonia, Lithuania, Norway and Sweden. The tools are available in a number of languages including English, French, German, Modern Arabic, Russian and Spanish.
Heini Karppinen, co-founder of EdTech Finland, encouraged education providers to contact the initiative even if the tool they are interested in is not available in their language: “We might have a solution,” she told.
Mighty United is joined in the initiative by its fellow Finns 3Dbear, Vuolearning, Seppo.io, Kide Science, TinyApp, Funzi, eMathStudio, Big Ear Games, Claned, Eduten, Sanako, School Day Wellbeing, Speakly, Psyon Games, Fun Academy, Language Clubhouse, Omnia Education Partnerships, Arkki International, Moomin Language School, EdVisto, Qridi, Mehackit, Education House Finland, Educraftor and EDvisor Finland.
