Financial Times has included 17 Finnish firms in its annual listing of Europe’s fastest-growing companies, with food delivery service Wolt ranked second.

The FT 1000 lists the European companies that achieved the highest compound annual growth rate in revenue between 2015 and 2018. In order to make the list this year, companies needed a minimum growth rate of 38.4 per cent.

Growth of over 15 000 per cent saw Wolt come in second, “flying the flag for tech-enabled food delivery”.

“We were glad and, to be honest, a bit confused to find out about the ranking,” CEO Miki Kuusitold state broadcaster YLE. “This is a listing that we also closely follow, but still did not expect this.”

UK fintech OakNorth Bank took the top spot in the ranking. Overall, Germany, Italy, the UK and France accounted for approximately 70 per cent of the companies listed.
