Finland among world’s most prosperous countries
The 2015 Prosperity Index has ranked Finland in ninth place out of 142 countries worldwide.
Produced by London-based think tank the Legatum Institute, the study looked beyond economic indicators such as the GDP to focus on a wide range of factors influencing prosperity.
A total of eight categories were used to rank countries, including the economy‚ entrepreneurship, governance, education, health, safety/security, personal freedom and social capital.
Whilst Finland’s 2015 ranking overall represents a slip of one place from last year, its safety and security was named the world’s third best and its governance and social capital were ranked fifth in their respective categories.
Norway, Switzerland and Denmark took the top three positions in this year’s ranking, with Central Africa Republic, Afghanistan and Haiti at the other end of the scale.
