Whilst the current pandemic has limited the ability to gather for concerts, G Livelab in Tampere typically hosts up to 250 people. Genelec

Tampere-based live music venue G Livelab has won in the Concert Hall category at the Mondo*DR awards.

This year’s Mondo•DR EMEA & APAC Awards for Technology in Entertainment recognised the best fixed installations in the industry.

Eligibility for the awards extended to manufacturing, distribution, installation, lighting design, architecture, acoustics, consultation and venue operations.

G Livelab in Tampere was shortlisted in the Concert Hall category alongside such venues as the Royal Opera House in London, the Berlin Philharmonie and the China National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing.

With a capacity of 250 people and a varied programme, the venue is equipped with some 80 Genelec loudspeakers and state-of-the-art audio systems. The fully networked systems can be configured at any time so that the loudspeakers function as delays, surround sound, background music or part of the virtual acoustics system.

“The sound and the acoustic environment can be tailored for every performance,” Mondo•DR pointed out. “The system is a completely no compromise approach to offer the highest-quality audio reproduction. It is simply the highest-quality live performance audio system in the world.”

Finnish company Akukon designed the acoustics, electroacoustics, lighting, sound, video, communication systems and basic IT structure as well as the rigging systems. Its vision was brought to life by Nordic AV integrators Bright.
