Finnish smart waste management company Enevo will optimise Norway’s recycling.

Norway’s second largest waste management company Bir will use Enevo‘s sensor solution to monitor recycling points for glass and metal and will expand to cover more recycling types and locations in the near future.

Enevo One sensor collects and analyses data from refuse containers which is then used to predict and optimise waste and recycling collection. The data sent by the sensors creates savings for waste management companies by making it unnecessary to empty partially filled containers. The environment also benefits through a reduction in fleet utilisation.

“The Enevo system will help us to accurately fill our refuse trucks every day based on the data we get from the system,” says Roger Gjerde Urås, Bir’s operations technician. “The data will also allow us to evaluate the cost and benefit of our current fleet size and how to best optimise these to best serve our communities.”

Norwegian Bir is responsible for waste handling from approximately 320 000 inhabitants in the municipalities owning Bir.
