Bold TV, Hanoi Rocks remix and Michelin-starred food

Hanoi Rocks has released a new album remix 40 years after its original reveal.

Finnish films make waves from animation to character studies, the new Aalto2 museum centre combines architecture, design and cultural heritage, and Michelin-starred Finnish food pops up in London.

“I have an anthropological gaze in my films,” Finnish director Tia Kouvo said in a recent interview with the Golden Globes website. This interest in human behaviour comes across in her debut feature film, Family Time, which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival in February.

In June, three Finnish animations will compete at Annecy International Animation Festival, the world’s biggest festival in the genre. Heli Jäälinoja’s Nun or Never! and Jenny Jokela’s Sweet Like Lemon were selected for the festival’s Official Short Film Competition, while Pink Twin’s The Transient is part of the Off-Limits Competition. Global Screen has bought the North American rights to My Sailor, My Love, Screendaily reports. The feature, by Finnish director Klaus Härö, recently won the best Irish film award at the Dublin International Film Festival.

Hanoi Rocks are back. The band have remixed their second album, Oriental Beat, 40 years after its release to match how they think it should have sounded in the first place. “This remixed album brims with excitement and urgency,” writes Metal Planet Music in its review.

A new Aalto2 museum centre is set to open in Jyväskylä in May. The centre consists of two buildings designed by the late Alvar Aalto and a new extension designed by A-Konsultit Architects. The latter was also responsible for the renovation of both museums. The centre will offer a wide range of exhibitions, events and services.

Finnish doom metal band Desolate Realms has released a new album, Legions. According to Decibel magazine, it “feels confident and unrushed at any speed while bringing a welcome iron-fisted toughness to the doom genre”.

Good news to travellers visiting Helsinki Airport. According to Breaking Travel News, the airport is scheduled to open a new food court with six restaurants in early summer 2023. The restaurants will offer a variety of menus, from burgers and pizza to Asian and Finnish flavours.

Valo Motion has released a new spaced-themed fighting game, Astro Blade, for its mixed-reality playgrounds. In the multiplayer game, the gamers are virtual holograms inside a spaceship hangar. The company has emphasised making the game social and safe for younger players.
