Data is like clean water – the essential of life of which importance you’ll only realise until its gone.
In today’s world data is measured, collected, reported, visualised and analysed up to a great extend but the real question is: “What are we going to do with all this data?”. The answer is: to create something unforeseen from it – something that will solve the key challenges of the future. I believe data will be a prime driver for human experience and economic value. With data we will be able to make buildings more intelligent and create personalised and better everyday services.
Creating something completely new demands a startup mindset and active innovation ecosystem. Innovating something new together as a team has always been the strength of Finnish people. As a result, Finland has a booming startup ecosystem; Helsinki is a home to the world’s biggest startup event Slush and various hackatons, where developers, designers, and entrepreneurs across the world gather to innovate. These events are unique incubators where new innovations are created, tested and developed together.
We also at Tieto are firm believers of openness and co-innovation. My job is to develop data-based ideas and turn them into mature business opportunities via idea incubation and commercialisation – following lean startup methods. May it be a data-driven idea that is turned into meaningful information; cool new services; new business ideas stemming from robotics or analytics – one can only create true value from data together with the ecosystem.
The journey with data will only accelerate, so let’s join forces!
