The City of Helsinki has granted funding from its innovation fund to a programme helping women to launch, grow and scale technology startups.
Organised by Tech Nordic Advocates (TNA), the largest technology startup ecosystem in Northern Europe, the international programme will be launched officially at Slush 2021 in Helsinki between 1 and 2 December.
The two-year programme will kick off early next year, offering the participants counsel, one-to-one mentoring and skills development from experts from around the world and access to capital, relevant events and networks. The objective is to tackle the key challenges standing in the way of women aspiring to found technology startups.
Tommo Koivusalo, board chairperson at TNA and head of NewCo Helsinki, stressed that Helsinki and Finland must succeed in promoting female entrepreneurship and diversity in general in technology in order to remain at the forefront of global technology innovation.
