Tibet Airlines to fly between Helsinki and Asia

The new route will include two weekly flights.Finavia

Tibet Airlines will introduce a new direct flight route between Jinan, China, and Helsinki Airport on 8 April.

The new route will further consolidate Finland’s position as an important connection point between Europe and Asia, with 44 weekly flights set to depart from Helsinki to China next summer.

It will also give Finnish travellers access to yet another Chinese city and open up considerable opportunities for Finnish businesses, as Jinan is the capital of the Shandong province where approximately 100 million people reside.

“The new Tibet Airlines’ route between Jinan and Finland reinforces Helsinki Airport’s position as a significant hub for travel to Asia,” said Finavia director Joni Sundelin. “It directly connects the Shandong province and Finland, and we warmly welcome Tibet Airlines here at Helsinki Airport.”

In 2018, there were 835 000 passengers travelling between Finland and China. Helsinki Airport also set an all-time passenger record, with close to 21 million travellers passing through it in the full year of 2018.

The airport is currently undergoing a development programme worth approximately one billion euros to increase its annual capacity to as many as 30 million passengers.
