Finnish cyber security expertise heads to Singapore
Jyväskylä, Finland-based JAMK University of Applied Sciences is planning to jointly establish a cyber security centre in Singapore.
JAMK and Singapore Polytechnic have signed a memorandum of understanding to set up the Center of Excellence in Applied Cyber Security in Singapore.
The centre would offer cyber security services to Singaporean and Asian companies and draw on the expertise developed at the JYVSECTEC cyber security research, development and training centre at JAMK.
“With this collaboration with Singapore Polytechnic, JAMK is taking a significant step forward as an internationally recognised cyber expert,” saidMika Karjalainen, director of JAMK’s Institute of Information Technology. “When the co-operation is realised, cyber security will become a new significant part of Finnish education export.”
The aim is to carry out the first cyber security exercise in Singapore during 2019, in accordance with a model developed by JYVSECTEC. The exercises are used to develop the preparedness and resilience against cyber attacks of partaking organisations in a realistic and safe cyber environment.
JYVSECTEC has been developing its cyber security expertise since 2011 and has carried out national cyber security exercises in Finland every year since 2013. It has also been involved in international exercises and provided training for many critical infrastructure actors.
