Finnish company UROS has teamed up with Tata Communications to accelerate deployment of IoT and smart city solutions globally.

The collaboration will see the two companies leverage and combine their latest technologies and industry resources to support deployment of the IoT and smart city solutions of public and commercial organisations globally and across industries.

“Over the next two years, our target is to serve hundreds of millions of users globally with our IoT platform,” said UROS CEO Jerry Raatikainen. “Tata Communications will be one of our key partners in fulfilling that target and we are proud to join forces with them.”

The IoT and smart city markets are growing exponentially, with the number of connected IoT devices expected to reach 20.4 billion by 2020, according to a forecast from Gartner, and the overall value of the smart city market to surpass two trillion US dollars by 2025, according to Frost & Sullivan’s forecast.

“There are huge opportunities for organisations across sectors to transform how they operate and serve their customers through new, always-connected services and applications,” said Anthony Bartolo, chief product officer at Tata Communications. “We look forward to leveraging our relationships with more than 600 mobile network operators worldwide to help UROS’ customers innovate and accelerate their growth through IoT.”
