Finnish gaming company Small Giant Games has closed a significant funding round.

According to Venturebeat, the 41 million-US dollar capital boost comes from lead investor EQT Ventures and existing investors Creandum, Spintop Ventures, and Profounders.

Small Giant Games will use this to expand internationally and grow its number of personnel, along with continuing to invest in its runaway hit, Empires & Puzzles.

The game has generated more than 10 million downloads and 33 million US dollars in revenue in less than a year.

“For EQT Ventures, Small Giant Games ticks all the boxes for the kind of companies the team wants to support,” Lars Jörnow, partner at EQT Ventures, was quoted by Venturebeat. “The strong, data-driven entrepreneurial team had a clear vision of what it wanted to achieve, and it’s delivering on that. Small Giant Games has achieved great traction and is determined to become a global winner.”

The news follows the studio’s announcement of a 5.4 million-euro funding round last year.
