Finnish Santa Claus Licensing has a signed an agreement with Chinese Xintiandi Group to build the world’s first outdoor theme park licensed by Santa Claus Foundation.

The park will be located in Hangzhou, China. Construction will begin this year, and the park is set to open for the public in 2012.

According to Santa Claus Licensing, the value of the deal is several million euros.

Santa Claus Licensing has, as of 2013, worked in licensing products and services related to the Santa Claus brand. Currently it has partnerships with over 100 companies.

The company’s press release states that the theme park is likely to benefit tourism in Finland too, as it spreads the word about Santa Claus, and Finland being his home country.

“We want to offer Finnish expertise and technology for the implementation of the park,” the press release reads.
