Planmed given the OK in Canada

Planmed received the approval in Canada on International Women’s Day celebrated on 8 March.Planmed

Finnish healthtech company Planmed has received Health Canada approval for its Planmed Clarity mammography system.

The approval letter was issued by Health Canada for the Planmed Clarity 2D digital mammography system and the Planmed Clarity 3D digital mammography tomosynthesis system.

The Planmed Clarity mammography products are used for breast cancer screening and diagnostic follow-ups.

“We are extremely pleased to have received Health Canada’s medical license for our Planmed Clarity system,” says the managing director of Planmed, Jan Moed. “This is a great next step for this unique product family. And we got the approval on the International Women’s Day, no less. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate Women’s Day.”

Compared with 2D imaging, digital breast tomosynthesis produces 3D images of the breast and enhances diagnostics, especially for women with dense breast tissue.

“Planmed’s patented tomosynthesis method significantly improves image accuracy and allows even the smallest details to be captured with great precision,” Moed points out.

Planmed’s mammography system was also approved in the US earlier this year.
