MUJI makes itself at home in Finland
Japanese lifestyle brand MUJI is establishing a subsidiary in Finland, with its first permanent store set to open in Helsinki in November next year.
The news follows the announcement that MUJI will open another pop-up store in the capital region, its third since being invited as the International Friend of design fair Habitare last year.
“MUJI and Helsinki have a lot in common and we feel at home in the city,” Takuo Nagahara, CEO of MUJI Europe, has stated.
According to the company, it has identified high demand in Finland and will draw on its experience and knowhow in the European market to help run its local operations.
The relationship between MUJI and Finnish culture continues to deepen. Suomen Jäätelö’s ice cream made a significant impression at MUJI stores around Europe this past summer and local wellbeing brand CupofTherapy published a book in Japan with MUJI.
