Matchmade steps up the game with fresh capital
Matchmade, a Finnish influencer marketing platform for games, has raised four million euros and announced a new US head office and expansion to Twitch.
The capital came from a 3.75 million-euro funding round led by Korea Investment Partners and a contribution of 473 000 euros from Business Finland. The Finnish startup has also revealed plans to open a new office in San Francisco.
Matchmade is currently experiencing rapid growth in a fast emerging field of advertising, with campaign investments from advertisers surging by 400 per cent on its platform in 2018 compared to 2017.
“The incredible 400 per cent growth in campaign budgets by advertisers is a testament to the growing importance of influencer marketing,” said Jiri Kupiainen, CEO and co-founder of Matchmade, in a press release. “This funding round allows us to double down on the development of the Matchmade platform and most importantly on growing our team.”
In addition to YouTube, Matchmade is now expanding its platform to include influencers from live-streaming video platform Twitch, with former Twitch employee and Forbes 30 under 30 prodigy Jordan Tayer set to head its new San Francisco office.
“Adding Twitch to the Matchmade platform means that we are better able to serve our customers and influencers alike by offering a broader data-driven approach to sponsored content,” Kupiainen said. “Influencer marketing is still very new and we’re excited to be driving the development of one of the fastest growing areas of new media.”
The Finnish startup has now raised a total of 6.25 million euros in venture funding, having closed a substantial funding round last year as well.
