Joy Wolfram makes Forbes 30 under 30
Finnish cancer researcher and assistant professor Joy Wolfram, 29, has been selected among the world’s 30 most promising healthcare professionals under the age of 30 by Forbes magazine.
Wolfram is currently working as an assistant professor at the renowned Mayo Clinic in Florida, the US, where she is heading the nanomedicine and extracellular vesicles lab. Some of her nanomedicine treatment strategies are expected to enter early-stage clinical trials in 2019.
She also holds affiliate faculty positions at the Houston Methodist Hospital in Texas, University of North Florida, and the Wenzhou Institute of Biomaterials and Engineering in China.
After completing her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology at the University of Helsinki in Finland, Wolfram headed to China, where she completed her Ph.D. in nanoscience and technology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing.
The author of over 40 publications since age 24, she has received more than 25 scientific awards and was also selected for the Amgen Scholars Ten to Watch two years ago.
Success runs in the family, with her younger brother William Wolfram founding the DealDash bidding site at the age of 16 and now acting as CEO of Galton Voysey, and her younger sister JennyWolfram keeping watch over social media as head of BrandBastion.
The annual Forbes 30 under 30 list selects 600 of the most talented young disruptors across 20 industries.
