Jospak’s packaging bags ScanStar Award
The Finnish startup Jospak has won a ScanStar 2018 Award for its sustainable packaging for a local meat product.
ScanStar is a joint Nordic packaging competition that has been held annually since 1969 by the Scandinavian Packaging Association.
The award ceremony will take place in November at the FoodTech Fair in Herning, Denmark.
“As a start-up, we are grateful for receiving the ScanStar Award,” comments Tarja Heikkilä, managing director of Jospak. “This means a true recognition for the hard work that we have done to come up with this product. We are positive that the ScanStar Award, together with our strong commitment to grow our business to the next level, will open new doors for Jospak.”
Jospak’s board-based tray packaging contains up to 85 per cent less plastic than a regular plastic alternative and is currently used for Finnish meat producer Pouttu‘s new bacon brand.
“We are constantly seeking new and environment-friendly solutions for packaging,” says Pirkko Rahkonen, head of development at Pouttu. “We launched the Kannuksen Lihakauppa meat brand this spring, and we found that Jospak tray’s design and material combination was a perfect match for our new brand.”
