Helsinki tops European Equality Index
Finland’s capital has been named the best city for equality in Europe.
Altogether, Spotahome assessed 33 European cities across 10 different factors. These included gender pay gap, immigrant acceptance and income inequality. Helsinki scored highest for male-to-female labour force participation, women in politics, and political rights and civil liberties.
The city also scored well for overall quality of life, ranking the eighth-best European city in the index.
The same company also used six distinct equality factors to determine its Country Index. Finland was ranked fifth out of 36 European countries.
