Finnish state-owned flag carrier Finnair is expanding its co-operation with Braathens Regional Airlines (BRA), a regional airline headquartered in Stockholm, to fly to Sweden’s third-largest city.

Finnair will thereby expand its network of operation to include Malmö, the third largest city in Sweden. BRA will operate six weekly flights between Helsinki Airport and Malmö Airport (MMX) with the 112-seater Avro RJ as of 16 March.

A codeshare agreement between the airlines ensures the tickets will be available also through Finnair.

“Sweden is an important market for Finnair,” tells Juha Järvinen, the chief commercial officer of the state-owned airline.

Järvinen points out that the close co-operation will enable the airline to provide not only its Finnish customers with excellent connections to cities in Sweden but also the residents of Skåne County with access to its comprehensive network in Asia.

BRA, one of the largest domestic airlines in Sweden, offers services from its main hub, Bromma Stockholm Airport, to Umeå, Sundsvall, Växjö, Visby, Ängelholm, Halmstad, Ronneby, Östersund and Trollhättan. It also operates flights between Helsinki and Umeå, and Helsinki and Stockholm for Finnair.

The partnership will also enable air passengers to earn and redeem Finnair Plus points on the route network of BRA.

Finnair has also announced the commencement of services to a variety of destinations in Lapland and Europe during the course of 2018.
