Hatch brings SEGA classics to online streaming

SEGA’s Crazy Taxi and Sonic 4 Episode 2 are now available on Hatch’s cloud gaming mobile app.Hatch

Rovio’s standalone subsidiary Hatch has partnered with Japanese video game developer SEGA to bring classic game characters such as Sonic to its cloud gaming service.

Hatch is the world’s first cloud gaming service for mobile that spun out of Angry Birds creator Rovio in 2016. As a first step of the new partnership with SEGA, it is bringing mobile game titles such as Sonic Jump, Sonic 4Episode 2, Sonic CD, Crazy Taxi and Virtual Tennis to its cloud platform.

“We are excited to be part of Hatch’s pioneering effort to deliver entertainment in a new and frictionless way,” says Naoki Kameda, COO at SEGA Networks, in a release. “With Hatch, we see an excellent opportunity to allow players to engage with five of our classic games in a new way.”

SEGA is the latest partner whose titles will join the hand-picked collection of games on Hatch that includes Bandai Namco’s PAC-MAN CE DX, Square Enix’s Hitman Sniper and Ubisoft’s Rayman Fiesta Run, and indie games such as ustwo Games’s Monument Valley, Frogmind’s Badland and Headup Games’s the Bridge Constructor franchise.

Through Hatch, mobile games are not downloaded but played over the Internet without degradation in quality, and without any need for installations and updates.

The Hatch Beta version is now available on Google Play in 16 countries around Europe.
