Finnish TV series lands global distribution deal
Hong Kong-based Lightning International has acquired the global distribution rights for Magic of Lapland, by inking an agreement with production company NTRNZ media and magician-illusionist Henri Kemppainen.
Magic of Lapland is a 10-part English-language TV series that showcases the magic and illusions of Kemppainen and the beauty of Finnish nature. Trained in Las Vegas, Kemppainen is the recipient of numerous awards and has graced the international stage.
“The deal is significant for us, because we were looking for a distributor with special knowledge of the Asian market,” says executive producer Teemu Hostikka. “Lightning International is an experienced player in the field, and they have followed the progress of the project for the past year. They have a strong network [in] the rest of the world as well.”
The series is currently being filmed across Finland.
“We are months ahead of schedule, as we thought we’d sign the distribution contract at the end of the year. Now, instead of finding a distributor, we get to already sell the series next week in Cannes at MIPCOM,” Hostikka continues.
