Finnish industry firms make deals worldwide

First up is Outotec, which has designed an absorption section for Sweden-based mining company Boliden’s sulphuric acid plant at the Rönsskär smelter in Sweden. The Finnish company will deliver the technology in the second half of 2019. Orders of this size and scope are typically worth over 10 million euros.

Next in line is Pöyry, which has been awarded an implementation service assignment for the Verde Vale 3 photovoltaic power plant located in the state of Bahia, Brazil. The contract was awarded by Vientos Solutions and will see the Finnish company provide project management and engineering consulting services to support the construction of the solar energy plant.

Pöyry has also completed engineering services for six out of the 12 gas-fired combined cycle power plants under construction in Thailand, which are owned by Gulf MP Company. Pöyry is acting as the contractor’s engineer for the power plant project that will have a total capacity of 1 470MW once completed. The 12th power plant is expected to reach its commercial operation date (COD) in July 2019.

Then onto KONE, which will provide lift and escalators for a large development project at Fifth + Broadway in downtown Nashville, Tennessee, in the US. The project includes a 34-storey residential tower, a 25-storey office tower, 22 000 square metres of shopping and dining space, a renovated conference centre, and the National Museum of African American Music.

Finally to Ponsse, which has signed a co-operation agreement with Sotreq for the the sale, service and marketing of Ponsse’s harvesters heads in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, a key forestry area in the country.
