Finnish industrial expertise deployed worldwide
Finnish industry heavyweights Nokia, Valmet and Wärtsilä are providing complex solutions around the world.
First up is Nokia, which is extending its collaboration with China Mobile to build cloud infrastructure using its Nuage Networks VSP, enabling China Mobile to offer a new suite of cloud-based services to its customers.
The Finnish telecommunications giant has also secured its largest-to-date GSM-Railway contract from Poland’s state-owned railway operator PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe (PKP PLK). The five-year turnkey contract Nokia signed together with its partners Herkules, Pozbud and Wasko, and PKP PLK, will increase railway safety and reliability throughout Poland.
Then onto Valmet, which is supplying a multifuel power boiler and auxiliary process equipment to Kipas Holding’s new greenfield paper mill in Söke, Aydin, Turkey. The boiler plant will provide steam for a paper machine and also produce electricity, with startup scheduled for March 2020.
Valmet is also engaged in Poland, where it will deliver a warp control system to Stora Enso Packaging’s corrugated board plant in Ostroleka, Poland.
Finally to Wärtsilä, which is supplying two shuttle tankers being built for AET Tankers with its volatile organic compounds (VOC) recovery technology, LNG fuel gas handling systems and auxiliary engines. Wärtsilä’s ground-breaking VOC recovery system will mix the VOC (gas evaporating from the oil cargo tanks) with liquefied natural gas (LNG) to power the vessels and save thousands of tons of fuel each year.
