Finnish health innovation awarded by Microsoft
The digital health service Health Village, developed by the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa (HUS) and Finnish digitalisation company Innofactor, has been recognised with a 2018 Microsoft Health Innovation Award.
Health Village is a cloud-based digital health platform that offers support, information and care to different patient groups in so-called ‘virtual houses’.
The platform won the Outstanding Innovation category of the Microsoft Health Innovation Awards, which recognise health organisations and their technology partners for innovations that use Microsoft’s intelligent health technologies.
“Since 2015, Innofactor has served as HUS’s principal partner in developing the technological platform for Health Village,” says Hannu Laesvuori, Innofactor’s director of healthcare and welfare, in a release. “The received awards are recognition of the innovativeness of HUS’s specialised medical care professionals, and Innofactor’s ability to implement the most demanding healthcare cloud services.”
Thousands of Finnish medical professionals and patients have participated in designing the services, and the platform is already recording more than 250 000 visits a month. Expansion to the rest of the Nordic region is also underway.
This year’s Microsoft Health Innovation Awards were announced at the 2018 HIMSS Annual Conference and Exhibition in Las Vegas, US.
