Noccela among best newcomers in Dallas

Noccela has been named ‘Highly Commended’ in the Best Newcomer category at the American Fraud Awards in Dallas. The event gathers professionals in charge of retail risk management solutions.

The award was decided by judges who included representatives from Toys R Us and Bloomingdale’s, to name a few. Noccela marketing director Emma Peltonen represented the company at the awards.

“It’s awesome to receive an industry award this significant,” Peltonen says, in a release. “With names like Adidas and Swarovski participating in the categories, we are in excellent company.”

Noccela’s positioning technology is used in intelligent anti-theft alarm tags that provide accurate and real-time positioning data as well as identify different shoplifting techniques. The value of the solution is in asset protection, since shoplifters usually target branded products with high resale value.

Noccela recently expanded its co-operation with the Norwegian sports retail chain XXL after a successful trial period in Finnish stores.

Based in Turku, the company has been operating in Finland since 2014 but quickly attracted the attention of the Netherlands, securing funding from Dutch investors in 2015 and 2016.

“As is the case for many other Finnish SMEs, internationalisation is an important gateway for growth. It demands considerable inputs and legwork, but when I got up on stage [to accept the award], I wanted to specifically thank our customers in Finland – without them our innovation wouldn’t have necessarily ever materialised,” elaborates Peltonen.
