Finnish design brand Pentik pops up in Tokyo
Finnish interior design brand Pentik continues to make a name for itself in Japan with a week-long pop-up shop in one of Tokyo’s leading department stores, Matsuya Ginza.
Pentik had the pop-up shop from 19 September to 25 September, together with Japanese distributor Scandex, which it met through Business Finland’s Tokyo office.
The two made their first joint appearance at the Interior Lifestyle Living Tokyo (IFFT) fair in November 2017, as part of Business Finland’s Lifestyle Finland programme.
“Pentik fits really well with the image that Japanese have of Nordic design: natural design, nature- and seasons-inspired patterns, and craftsmanship,” saysLaura Kopilow from Business Finland Tokyo.
Finnish design has grown in Japan for decades, from iconic brands such as Moomins, Marimekko and Artek to include smaller design and fashion companies such as Pentik, Teemu Järvi Illustrations and Myssyfarmi, to name a few.
Pentik will next be seen at a pop-up event held at the Nihonbashi Takashimaya department store in Tokyo between 19 September and 2 October. Its designs are also permanently on sale at the Scandex shop in Mint Kobe, West Japan.
