Finnish companies get neighbourly with Swedes
Profil-Bau Industrial has been acquired by Swedish industrial engineering and automation firm ÅF and Ramirent is to deliver to the West Link project in Gothenburg.
ÅF’s acquisition of the Finnish electrical, automation and mechanical design specialists is in line with its strategy to extend its offering and complement its current energy business in Finland. The company’s main customer segments include power and industrial plants, mining industry, cable machinery industry, chemical industry, and engineering industry.
“We are delighted to become a part of ÅF,” saysIsmo Lehti, CEO of Profil-Bau Industrial. “The market for our services has been growing for the past few years and partnering with ÅF strengthens our opportunities in major energy and industry automation projects.”
Meanwhile, Ramirent is supplying the Gothenburg Central Station construction site with rental equipment, services and logistics, and safety-dedicated staff. The delivery stems from a co-operation agreement with NCC in which Ramirent is to be the total supplier when NCC builds the intermediate stage of the West Link at the station, in co-operation with the Swedish Transport Administration.
“The project is very complex and sets entirely different requirements than many other construction sites,” says Jonas Söderkvist, the executive vice president for group business development at Ramirent, in a release. “By having staff on-site, fully focused on logistics and safety, with full transparency and the right expertise, we can ensure a safe place to work together with NCC.”
Altogether, work on the central station will extend over eight years.
