Finnair expands its reach in Europe and Asia
Finnair has announced a new year-round route to Hanover and added capacity to other European destinations and Dubai. In Asia, the Finnish airline has begun codeshare cooperation with Cathay Pacific Airlines to destinations in Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar.
Finnair will expand its coverage of over 100 destinations in Europe by opening a new route to Hanover, one of northern Germany’s largest cities. Flights on the route will start in April 2019 and be expanded to a daily, year-round service in June.
“We are very excited to open a new route to Hanover and to continue our growth and expansion into Germany as it is a very important market for Finnair,” says Juha Järvinen, chief commercial officer at Finnair. “We’ve also significantly increased our presence in the German market for the upcoming 2018 summer season by adding approximately 35 per cent capacity compared to last summer.”
Furthermore, Finnair will expand its flight capacity to and from Reykjavik, Barcelona, Warsaw and Dubai.
In Asia, Finnair has concluded a codeshare agreement with the Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific Airlines to extend its network to four new destinations: Hanoi and Danang in Vietnam, Yangon in Myanmar, and Phnom Penh and Siem Reap in Cambodia.
“We warmly welcome this cooperation with Cathay Dragon and are delighted to offer our customers yet more destinations and smooth connections in Asia,” says Philip Lewin, head of alliances and partnerships at Finnair. “Currently Finnair offers 10 weekly round trips from Helsinki to Hong Kong and adds a new frequency during this winter season.”
